Add to that your toddler needs formula...
The daycare in our suburb asks doesn't your child deserve the best - that would be me
Me with my washable pads (and yes their nappies when in use), breast feeding until 3 and caring for/pre-educating my own kids

(forgive the font change and size mixup - i really thought i had it this time)

oh life can be so hectic with 2 kids, one in school one at home, working thurs evening and all day saturday, plus every 3rd sunday. whilst living in an unfinished house 45min from greg's work and 30 mins for ally's school.

sometimes i feel like a taxi driver, who makes meals, does housework and semi-regularly gets to zumba (which is oh so addictive i wish i could do more)

last year alex and i signed up for a christmas card swap on http://kidscraftweekly.com/ - these are the gorgeous cards we received from around the world - we really enjoyed being involved thanks amber - the big snowman at the bottom is the stunning card alex made at school for greg and i - she's such a talented chicken

we've done a few cool little jobs around the house the most fun

(and successful) is our first paver/stepping stone up to the car - it took 2 bags of cement, some mosaic mirror tiles and some cut up glass tiles to make my snail paver - we are so pleased with how it turned out - the pic is taken whilst the cement is still wet - it looks better since it's dried and greg has scraped the tiles clean - i'll get another pic (yeah sometime karen sometime)

i've managed to do some sewing too - very enjoyable toothe first was a custom set of pads for a gorgeous lady who lives locally and found me via nurture nappies - ooh i can't wait to show you how beautiful they all turned out - was so exciting to create beautiful pads again

a bit late coming i know

you can see the colours, the size of the deck is 8 x 12m; it's 4 m off the ground at the highest point and the block is getting a bit overgrown with the recent rain. you can also see the see saw we built for theo's 3rd birthday.

our first night away from the kids

greg and i had our first night last week

we dropped the kids at my folks where they had a super time decorating biscuits and cupcakes; playing with playdoh; eating icecream; reading etc and sleeping really well with no tears at all!

we headed up to eumundi for lunch (to scope it for the following day's markets) and most of the town was shut due to a little horse race we forgot all about - sigh. we got lunch at a local bakery - very yummy thanks. we drove over to noosa and walked along the foreshore stopping at some of the shops to giggle at the high heeled crocs!!! then we finally found hastings street and went for a wander - yes the drunken, loud, hat wearing patrons rubbed in the whole horse race thing. i did get my new hat - it's a lovely grown up one - i should get some pictures before one of the kids destroys it

we stayed at a gorgeous http://www.cudgerie-noosa.com/index.shtml we had the whole place to ourselves - so we watched scrapheap challenge whilst henna-ing each other and then a game of scrabble whilst eating yummy pizza (mine was satay chicken) before some not for blogging us time. wednesday we got up and had a gorgeous breakfast of fresh fruit salad, bircher muesli and fresh baked banana muffins made by veronica (thanks so much). then we headed off to the eumundi markets where we bought a few things - it was most enjoyable - lots of lovely things to look at and the kids scored honeycomb, strawberries (theo) and a fairy dress (alex) and we each got a top. i bought a couple of bars of soap to tide me over until i hear back from my regular supplier. some avocado oil for my mum and some magic cards to put in alex's santa sack.

after the markets we drove to yandina to the http://www.buderimginger.com/gingerfactory/ where we got to be a pair of big kids and rode the train and more importantly the boat ride through the hundreds of puppets - oh my the fun we had!!!

when we got back to the kids at my folks place they were having so much fun with nana in the bus they barely said hello - my parents were fabulous but i think rather worn out by our kids - thanks nana and pa - for our break, for keeping the kids safe and happy and for agreeing to do it again "sometime" xox

more face paint for halloween

ally had a disco to go to the night before halloween itself - so daddy did her makeup as a skeleton - so very very cute

the night of halloween there was a mixup and ally was off trick or treating sans costume - i quickly did her up in my zombie makeup (see previous post) and put my work wig on her - my own little mini zombie - super cute. the kids loved trick or treating - way too many lollies and some incredibly kind and generous souls in karana downs - was so proud of my alex - she has the most amazing manners and only 7 years old.

two more of my work faces - day of the dead and skeleton. i did a scarier green version of the zombie makeup which frightened a few people and made a small child cry - sigh - that made me feel particularly bad. we sold a LOT of face paint 'though. note the difference in quality of white - i didn't set the white on the skeleton with powder - so it wasn't looking as great after 8 hours as the days i did set it.

we had four very busy days when i was on for halloween - it was an amazing experience - so many people in such a small space at one time (well over 4 days) a couple of times i felt a bit overwhelmed by the crush but really after my experience as a nurse - it's not like anyone was going to die was it? and it's a lot of fun helping people decide what to wear, how to decorate etc.

have been VERY busy

i've taken a casual job at a craft/costume shop at indooroopilly called craft ideas - 2nd floor http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=199326850303

i usually work thurs evening and all day saturday, with halloween fast approaching i'm also working sundays and the week before i'm working more shifts whilst greg stays home with theo. anyhoo part of the gig is dressing up to inspire the customers - chris (my gorgeous boss) chose a wig for me to wear - i've been spending a bit of time online searching out make-up ideas - i found this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/user/SarahVictor#p/u/79/2LJoTCuVMv4 and loved it - not a bad job after watching once and doing my face several days later dontcha think? i see now i could have used more black. and i'd love to perfect the white even-ness a bit more. i'm not a make-up kinda girl - i've just bought my first lot of eyeshadow in over 10 years - lol.

will add more pics as i try more looks - i've got some fun liquid latex to play with, plus glow in the dark face cream, scar skin and more

mid last week a juvenile butcher bird turned up on our deck

when i walked outside he wasn't frightened at all, and followed me

so i got him a couple of small pieces of meat - he took them from my hand

over the next 2 days he was managing to get scraps of food from 3 family members - this started to concern us a bit as we don't want a wild animal dependent upon us for food. yesterday he flew into the house and sat on a chair before i shooed him away. this morning he tapped on the sliding door until someone answered (my husband - lol) and then chatted away for at least 2 hours before my 3yo son insisted on giving him a treat - so now we've decided he will get one treat (about 1/2 teaspoon) per day - he's just too cheeky

for the lessons of the past week

sometimes trying to encourage empathy in others will not succeed - that's ok, i'll still try when i can

to teach my son as he grows that it is not necessary to overpower a woman to be a man - shaking a woman's hand need not require you to crush it so much it hurts 3 hours later when she goes home and cries to her husband - thank goodness i was blessed with a husband who has taught me what to do next time that happens to me

and by giving my kids two racist grandfathers - i must increase my resolve to teach my children there is good and bad in all, and to take each person at face value (not religion, race, sex, class, fame, wealth etc) we are all capable of doing great deeds and making bad choices. and we can live beyond all of them.

i HIGHLY recommend it

a fabulous read for all ages (including 43 yo daddy's)

alex went to school dressed up as the smallest rabbit

i bought the mask, face paint and a maribou feather (for her fluffy tail) home from work (craft ideas - indooroopilly) ; she went along like this with a red apple in hand

we had membership there for 2 year

s - theo and i would visit every 2 weeks or so - he got to know the farmers (particularly alan and geoff) and the shearers (terry and daniel); amy from the farm nursery

we had such fun on our last visit (our membership has now expired and we're going to do the train museum this year) - i finally went out front to catch the barn owl 'scuse the blurry pic - hubby on camera duty

the nursery koalas were very active; we got to see lots of babies climbing and cuddling

as were 2 tasmanian devils - laying in there tunnel

the scrub turkey's had some massive nest piles ready to attract a female for breeding

daisy the golden possum was showing off her bottom

theo said hello to all the parrots/birds by name - he learnt what each breed was so quickly

gotta go now - the tho-man is about to get out of his highchair from lunch so must turn off and pack away the computer

apology and mini update

sorry my first post in almost 3months was an ebay promo

i stuffed up my listing so wanted to let the bidders see my actual hammock

wow it's been frantic here

not enough minutes as they say

especially when one really tries to pay attention to each one as they happen yk?

so the school hols are almost over - so fast again

today was fairly quiet - a trip to the toy library - theo's really into puzzles now and is advancing much quicker than i'm willing to buy more of (especially as the wood ones are so much better for little hands) so we hire them - he's up to 20 piece odd shaped ones and will attempt up to 30 piece jigsaws with some help.

he became quite addicted to toy story 2 - prepping him for our drive in excursion to see 3, now loves buzz and woody, more than (i think) captain mack

that and snotting his sister - sigh - so now we have found the trouble with raising a polite, patient, empathetic and someone woosy girl - he will bite, hairpull, hit and pinch just to hear the cool sounds she makes - sigh. of course she does help create the situation by insisting he play a game he doesn't want too. but yk what - i reckon about 95% of the time they get on so well and she's an amazing big sister.

yesterday we went to the abbey museum's medievil kids fun day - the kids got to make some fabulous stuff - shields, a princess hat, sword, mask, and ally and i did some lucet braiding - it looks a lot like french knitting when it comes off the tool - but is only a 2 prong tool unlike a french knitting bee

afterwards i had my flying experience thanks to phil from choir - www.comegliding.com.au - i made some paperplate shamrock props for a song we did so phil gifted me a flight as a lovely thankyou. we flew out over bribie island - i took some pics of my folks place, the coastline, bribie bridge and glasshouse mountains. turning off the engine - i must say made me hold my breath but no the plane didn't dip - not til later when phil did it on purpose - made me feel extremely sick so he didn't do any more of the fancy turns - lol

i'll put a few pics up - note the one in the air with the propellor off!!

end of year ramble

wow well who new that 2009 would be so huge
and that 2010 looks so good

oh and that today is new years eve (yes i was a day out so thought it was tomorrow - lol)

our house is looking FABULOUS
we had christmas lunch (sandwiches, soft drink/juice/ginger beer and tiny teddies) on the deck - took theo's high chair as the deck is 4m off ground and there's no ballustrading yet.

we had christmas dinner with greg's parents and boxing day lunch with mine

the kids had a fabulous time - ally got a new pushbike - she's got good quite quickly; theo got a new little lawn mower that makes a clicking sound when he pushes it - he likes to wear greg's earmuffs whilst he does - great for shops, parks, inside and outside

and books - lots and lots of books

greg and i got each other a few little things - but the main gifts - to him a new socket set and a trapeze lesson with circa; and for me - 3 private riding lessons at the riverside equestrian centre in moggill. so very very cool!!!

the kids were completely spoiled by the rels and got some really wonderful gifts - handmade dolls clothes, a diy kaleidoscope and microscope, a whole bunch of smiggle goodies for ally

theo got a few thomas things, hotwheels cars and slide, a super truck amongst lots of other gifts

both sets of parents gave greg and i wonderful gifts for the new house - can't wait to move in and start enjoying them (''though the ladder is already over there)

alex has completely blossomed at her new school - her teacher miss blackburn is probably as close to the perfect teacher for alex that you can possibly get - and next year she has her again
alex is extremely intelligent, co-operative and liked which is fabulous. she will never be the most co-ordinated soul - can't have it all 'though - she's super duper smart.
alex enjoyed physie out of school hours - learning little dance routines and even enjoyed the competing bit - lol.

ok it's now midnight so happy new year all

what else did we accomplish
well our biggest barney ever - but we made up again
i joined a community choir and did some amazing performances - including the brookfield opera (part of the brisbane festival) and the lord mayor's corporate christmas party
it's such fun
theo and i spend so much time at lone pine koala sanctuary that he knows what order the animals are in and many of the staff know us
we went on 2 steam train rides this year - our train museum membership was really worth it
i've convinced greg to go back to ju jitsu - he's really enjoying it so i'm pleased

we're getting more exercise as a family - walks and bike rides mostly

i signed up with kaszazz and now have a stamp, paper and scrapbooking addiction

theo is talking well now, and loves to sing. he's a climber, a runner and a deconstruction expert

oh i think that will do

we have 3 gp's now - 2 boys (bought and chosen) and 1 girl (adopted) all 3 gorgeous

due to differences in guinea pig opinion we have 3 day enclosures and 3 night enclosures (who thought gp's would attack not only each other but also their owner - wearing a pair of leather motorbike gloves and bruise the palm of his hand mind you)

each has a piece of plumbing pipe - here they are in a row sleeping inside their tubes

front is chloe (we're hoping she's now expecting); next (right) is pom pom (he should be the daddy) and at the back is luther (the quintessential ATTACK guinea pig)

here's me on the way to the workshop - looking all normal ..... me ... dumb enough to go to a textile event with a known wool allergy and NO anti histamines - to the wonderful ATASDA lady who gave me one of hers i am forever in your debt - should i ever be able to repay you please let me know...

teacher and artist extraordinare - sharyn hall.... having never known i walk past some of her work regularly at the kenmore shops.... what a wonderful teacher, skilled artisan and sweet sweet woman !!!!

CHEEKY!!!! who me???? yes i was ready for sharyn's first demonstration and yes i was ready with a sharpie for her signature.... no points for guessing what 3 items will be framed and hung on the wall of the studio at the new house when it finally arrives!!!!!

my workspace - before i got going....

and some examples of MY work on the day during the workshop. we used vinyl, perspex, foam and stamps/rubbings with thickened procion dyes (and some paints NOT included in my pics) on natural fibres including cotton, silk and i added some hemp and bamboo to the mix - so if you nappy fabric girls get some new customers from outside the nappying world - well i gave a few stores names/websites out on the day.... so expect some bv buys real soon....

you may have heard how we recently had one years worth of rain in 2-3 days

so it flooded and ally had to stay away from school a couple of days - the water went across the road to the school's gate - we kept busy at home with her homework book and year one maths

(she's doing mostly year 2 at school - chronologically year 1)

i've been making up some modified very baby nappies for theo

here's 6 of them - i'll try to add more as i take photos

the modification - i've made 3 layer bifolds - 2 hemp fleece 1 flannel which snap into the "shell" at the front - he's a boy and that's where it gets wet - so that's where i added the absorbency

wow it's amazing to us

our little girl is now 6

and she is beautiful - inside and out

let me tell you about yesterday - at playtime at school yesterday a little girl in ally's class lost the locket to her new diary... so ally asked her teacher if she could go back to the classroom for a pencil and paper - sure said her teacher what do you want it for.... this is what happened

alex got the pencil and paper, asked a little girl who usually plays by herself to help and then they went around asking the other kids have you seen the locket? they wrote down the names with a no beside them....

on monday she made up jokes to try to cheer up a boy in grade 7 who was crying about being on detention

every day she teaches her baby brother something new

happy birthday sweet girl - you make our life more beautiful every single day

the rash was unbearable for the poor thing - it looked like massive welts which progressed further up her body each time the phenergan wore off - towards the end of it's cycle she was getting it on her neck and behind her ears!!! the pic is of her lower thigh the second day of the rash! she had x-rays and blood tests and was so very brave - i did put on emla cream so she didn't feel it, she watched the needle go in, the blood come out and didn't hear us talk to her she was so fascinated. the wonderful red cross volunteers made the knitted bear she was gifted - what a fabulous thing for them to do. she got a whole bag of stuff including stickers, colour in and a clean specimen jar full of jelly beans - makes for an interesting time at the docs when theo pulls out the specimen jars anticipating lolly goodness (ally gave him a white one!)

we did lots of puppet making to keep her creative side happy and as we had to stay home lots of kids tv, reading and gentle play in the yard - like the chalk drawing on cement in the pic;

i bought a bag sewing kit for her ages ago - rather than follow the instructions she decided to go her own way (ah her mother's daughter) and came up with a very cute result indeed - i stitched the buttons and handle on (using white buttons on the back)

i gave her a pile of buttons and asked her to sort them into groups then explain to me why she chose each group - it was enlightening have a look...

and lastly a couple of pics of the farm ally made out the back window - there were lots of other animals but these were just too cute to miss

i took these with a small fuji digital camera - it was my gift from greg when theo was born

i carry it with me almost everywhere - my only complaint is the batteries are always going flat (it takes AAAs)

anyway for the pics:

it had rained the day i took these - the cement was dry but the leaves all still had droplets of water on them - i spotted the snail first and headed out for a look; saw the leaves and took a few snaps and was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful these pics turned out

the pig letterbox is made from an old bbq gas bottle - she was dressed up as a bilby over easter; we've been told she becomes a reindeer for christmas

the phone booth is in a horse paddock - the last turn before school - and i LOVE this - LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! i think i'd probably love it even more if i was into dr who....

and last week we spotted the chicken letterbox almost opposite the phonebooth - pretty cool huh?

other kooky letterboxes on the way are an old microwave, a white bucket and a few stunningly decorated pink and floral ones

add to that the stunning bush, mountains, farms with goats, llama's, cows, pigs, and whole tonne of horses. it truly is a wonder start to the day

i LOVE sheep herd trials

the way one man and a few dogs can round up a bunch of sheep is amazing to me

we go to the koala sanctuary in kenmore quite often (have season pass') should put a pic of theo here.....

it's a good way to wear him out before his mid-day nap - and it's really helping him overcome his fear of some animals (he still runs away from the goats as they are rather excitable when he has food for them.... and i personally blame the emu to begin with - after all it did try to take his biscuit out of his hand when theo was in the pram one time!!!)

i participated in a pad swap - looks like i forgot to take a pic of the one i sent - it was hot pink BV with bamboo fleece soaker, PUL and bamboo/cotton butterfly print

here's the pad i received for my swap - purple flannel, hemp terry and cotton print - isn't it pretty?

another swap - i was assigned the gorgeous becci - see the apron on the 27th of december - the swap was notions based - so i made up the melly and me pattern "under the sea" for her to use as pincushions. i put the big fish top fin on backwards - looks a bit punkier - t'was a mistake but i think it looks ok. i also sent the pattern, some tie-dye cords and the fat quarters for the FQ swap (i got becci for both). enjoy becci - thanks for organising another wonderful swap

if you think this pattern is becoming my favourite then you are correct!!! i made this one up for one of ally's school friends - they gave us a bag full of georgia's grown out of shoes - this was my way of saying thankyou - the print's are kaffe fassett and i chose a plain bodice this time.

i've never posted a pic anywhere of the stunning kitchen themed swap i received.... i wore one of the aprons on christmas day - so here it is - how completely utterly gorgeous is this apron??? made by the delightful becci who organises many of the swaps on that particular group - thanks becci... i'll get greg to iron the other apron and post a pic of that soon too!!!

theo finally got his pint - it's pretty darned cute - a tad more fro than his sumner-milleresque hair but how does one do s-m hair??? thanks megsie - we love it - and it fits beautifully.

and the only item i managed to sew for ally for christmas this year - and i'm so incredibly proud of it!!! i smiled like a cheshire cat for days after finishing it - i used the portabello pixie pattern "analise" size 6 (available at my store http://www.ozebaby.com.au/product.php?VP=15183 ); i did the simple version (ie. not the quilted skirt) and used an amy butler print for the skirt, and 2 co-ordinating (well i think they do) joel dewberry fabrics for the bodice and trims. it's a wonderful fit and great for twirling - it reminded me of a very expensive dress my mum bought me as a girl - it was white with multicoloured spots and 2 or 3 frills around the skirt - man did i wear that thing! ally adores her new frock - and i hope she wears it heaps too!

t'was the season for handmade decorations

had lots of fun this year making decorations

the last 2 years i've participated in a decoration swap - there were only 4 of us this year so i made 2 stars each - one wire and bead star with a cloisonne (?sp) bead as a feature amongst lots of wire and seed beads and one felt star - plain red on the back, yellow with a star bead/stitch detail on front edged in gold thread blanket stitch and stuffed with polyfil

on our cutest little tree (it's about 70cm high fibreoptic) you can see lots of handmade stars (3 felt ones, one is mine, one from megsie at pint and one by di - who also did the stocking and red/green paper wreath - as part of the aforementioned swap); a hand detailed house, 3 paper flowers and a blue bird by marnie of onewetpants; lots of wire/bead shapes that ally and i did together and ally's little paper/peg deorations. i did the star on top reusing the beads off some wine charms i'd been gifted by kathryn shaw (see ozebaby.com.au) before she found out we don't drink. i did buy the red balls and tinsel from coles as the first decorations of this season as greg doesn't know where all our old ones are and i didn't want to leave the tree bare for my 5yo.

the gold/pink wire and seedbead ball was done for the school tree - i shaped the wire around an inflated balloon then spent about 4 hours wrapping wire and feeding hundreds of tiny glass seedbeads onto it - each family at the school was asked to make a decoration - i think only a handful did. as we are moving ally next year we wanted to give a piece that would remind them of her - so it's gold and pink (her favourite colour); handcrafted and unique - just like our bear!

the first is a set of 6 longer pads - approx 30cm but varying due to the amount of hand work during construction - have a hidden 3 layer bamboo fleece soaker; hidden panel of 2mil PUL and stunning prints

the second is a set of 6 liners - approx 22cm long, bamboo velour top, panel of hidden bamboo fleece and gorgeous quilting cotton prints on the back - perfectly reversible if the owner is feeling whimsical

11 years on - yesterday

we're in a good place - we have two beautiful, healthy and mostly happy children (they are 1 and 5 years old - i defy anyone to say their 1 and 5yos are always happy - lol)

we're soon to be building our dream home - no not a fancy big brick box... but an environmentally friendly kit home among the gum trees;

we can still afford me to be a stay at home mum - this is a value we hold dear, so live below our earnings to allow this;

we've downsized our car to reduce our carbon footprint

we are very aware of our footprint full stop and it feels good to lessen it each day

we're still madly in love

and we're still having fun

he gave me a lovely version of pippi longstocking illustrated by my favourite author/illustrator lauren child which comes with 4 collector cards that we will frame and hang in my studio at our new abode

i gave him 11 me-made chocolate crackles and a small bag of his favourite treats

so i got tired (again) of having my hair pulled by my prewalking child (who is now RUNNING!) so like with ally i cut my hair off - well this time i got adventurous and went the whole "Queenie - the bantam" and dyed it HOT PINK - it's pretty cool - i started gently with purple, then a bright auburn, and finally i bleached all the colour out to go this colour!!! certifiable - almost certainly

lots of internet issues

we've moved house and love it here
now i've got dial up with a decent cord length so my boy doesn't sit on the keyboard, eat the mouse or chew on the cables whilst i am online

am hoping his new bed will mean he sleeps more, not in the lounge, so i can actually get stuff done

we have 2 dogs on either side, we've made friends with the german pointers - they are very cool.
greg is reluctant to play with them in case it's betraying Bogart. i think it would honour him rather than betray him - that different grieving again. mostly we get teary now when ally mentions him - which she does every few days.

an update on grief:

well it's been a while, and we're still so close to crying most days. ally keeps making pictures/balloons etc into puppies to give greg as "he really misses his dog mummy"; on the drive to school one day last week she exclaimed "i have a brilliant idea, lets get daddy a puppy for his birthday - it must be a spaniel!" hmmm. i don't know if greg will last that long.

last night we took one of greg's specialties next door for dinner - pasta from scratch with a lamb/peri peri mince and fresh bread. talking about bogart reduced us both to tears - yes it was the right decision - just picturing him so scared when he'd gone blind in the last couple of days made me so sad. greg visited him today at the block - his garden is growing beautifully so i'm so pleased about that.

i'm so sad

it's very difficult coming home from driving ally to school and there's no doggy to greet me
we go down stairs to hang up the laundry and he's not there
wanting to toss some meat scraps out the door
reaching to turn on the outside light so he can see
closing the door to keep him out of the house (it's a rental)
i think the hardest part is knowing i'll never lose my fingers in his soft fur again
that and i keep picturing him laying at the bottom of the hole

greg and i grieve so differently - we see death differently so we cope in different ways - i kept stroking and talking to bogart at the vet, even after he'd gone and the whole time we prepared his grave. where as greg really didn't want to look at him as to greg he was gone the moment the anaesthetic took effect (poor bogart was then transported wrapped in a blanket in the car boot). there is no wrong or right way to grieve. so i'm not saying he's wrong. just different. i think our methods may prolong the others grief 'though.

ally drew him in her visual diary at school yesterday - so she could look at him if she missed him at school - she wrote my puppe did (my puppy died). she's coping really well - though a little concerned for all our well being. theo says doh doh doh as we went down the steps yesterday - i was teaching him how to say dog. greg and i both cry. i guess it will get less each day.

dogs are so unconditional. greg told one of his workmates last week that bogart was always happy to see him when he got home from work - but that he couldn't guarantee i was - smile. i AM always happy to see him, however i do get cranky and you know what spaniels just don't do cranky!!!

well this is a liner i've been using very frequently - approx 3 times a week for over 18months. i was wanting to show that even though the fabric is now deteriorating the stitching is still intact - this demonstrates why i have the confidence to offer a 3month repair/replacement on construction on all my pads -

i see meg's bamboo store order is almost gone - wow you guys!!!

here's a couple of customs i've done lately

there's a black hemp silk pair with sunflowers and the *last* fairy (i'd promised this before the earlier blog post below - so again please don't ask - i've got the rest saved for ally) - this isn't a great shot - i forgot to take one after completion of thread burying and snapping.

the other was a custom with flannel top and plain PUL bottoms - i've got a stack of these cut out for bubblebubs (if vicki still wants them) that i'll puddle through over the next couple of weeks. vicki's great for NOT applying any pressure.

i've also got some BV's cut out for karen at baby soft landings to puddle through.

and some hemps for michelle at sustainable hemp.

i've also got some hemps underway for another store - with a totally gorgeous and exclusive print - i haven't forgotten you!!!

this weekend i'm working on some customs and trades to clean the slate before stopping. some really nice pads (if i do say so myself).

i'll be taking at least 3 months off - to recover, adjust and enjoy our new addition (and move). and to evaluate how to make this whole *girly bits* stuff work better for me - without adding the stress it does when one's product is popular.

this was a rush job for a gorgeous lady due in the next week or so. red cotton/poly velour (80/20) from my private stash, purple dyed bamboo/organic cotton velour (70/30), and some absolutely stunning prints. i love the new red oversized floral above. the two smaller liners are narrow 24cm pads with 2 layer hemp fleece soakers. the 4 long pads are 30cm, 3 layer bamboo towelling, hidden PUL panel and quilting cottons.

they have arrived and she's happy - so here they are for you to see.

a bit about our day...

we went to currumbin sanctuary this afternoon.

so i thought i'd put a couple of pics up.

ally was styled by her daddy today. that with the roughing up by a kangaroo led to a more casual hair look!!!

we remembered to take a hat for feeding time with the birds today as last time we all got a bit scratched up and ally's head hurt - it's just before sundown and being under so many trees we'd put the hats away last time.

ally has a newfound love of pumpkin soup - thanks aunty K.

i started a bit of a trend, her daddy joined in all competitive like so i do have some great soup pictures. but tonight i decided to do one that matched our day.... it's fun making pictures on soup with yoghurt - everyone should try (thanks iron chef)

these pics are the latest pads to go to my dear friend michelle at sustainable hemp products - there will only be

3 of the rainbow fairies with hemp silk tops.

the aqua fairies will have around 20 in total.

finally we are getting stuff aimed at the market i really want to crack - teens. and i'm aiming for university girls too - my dream to be at O week spreading the word - if anyone can get me there it's the hempnut - she's just a walking ball of passion!!!

the last pic is the mermaid that i kind of stuffed - took the top of her head off - so guess what - I get to keep this one for myself - yay!!!

woke at midnight unwell - thick cough, runny nose, sore throat (she actually said she had a sore throat - it's amazing when they can verbalise their symptoms) and rank poos to boot. so i'm puddling through some sewing but not at the pace i'd like. bubba asked me to find something small so i could scoop the germs out of her throat - aww - had to explain that the body has special germ fighters that will do that for her, that it will take a few days but her body knows just what to do.

and tip for the day - do NOT try to break dental floss with your fingers - that stuff cuts like a knife - sigh - i did get to wear an elmo bandaid 'though

i've got some gorgeous new fabrics (i think i told you i'm a fabric addict - yes?)

i've got 3 in the the kitty boutique range - more to come on ozebaby very soon - something a little different to try.

the peacock is popular - which is great - i was very excited to find another peacock with gold accents.

another custom - this was a night custom for 2 pads - the mermaid and dancing cows - so funky - great taste there from the buyer.

and the most exquisite new line at sustainable hemp products - this will be a short run and there will be 3 only of the same print in rainbow colours - i'll post a pic once i've got one made up.
